Spotlight: All Star Tennis

All Star Tennis is the local home of recreational and coached tennis for people of all ages. We caught up with Elliott at All Star to discuss their origin story, how to sign up, and the variety of benefits that come with getting out on court.

Tell us who you are and what you do.

We’re All Star Tennis, friendly park tennis facilitators at King George’s Park, and five other locations throughout Wandsworth. We’re passionate about making tennis fun and accessible for all, and our ethos is creating enjoyment and wellbeing through tennis.

How did All Star Tennis come about?

We were founded in 1999 by school friends Ben White and Ben Jackson. They started coaching around the Wandsworth area and took on the Wandsworth Common courts in 2002, establishing their friendly and professional brand with a passion for sharing their love of tennis through coaching and social sessions.

Fast forward to 2012 and we were awarded the contract for five other locations in the area, including King George’s Park in Wandsworth Town. And we haven’t looked back since.

It’s an exciting time to join us. We have a great team on and off the court, our participation is growing year on year, Padel courts are on the way, all 28 courts have been resurfaced, and we have floodlights at King George’s Park for evening play all year round!

Is All Star for budding tennis champs or can anyone play?

Everyone is welcome! Tennis is a sport that can be enjoyed by all, whether you’re a youngster picking up a racket for the first time, an adult coming back to the game having not played in years, and everyone in between.

Where do we sign up?

You can sign up for free at www.allstarttennis.co.uk, or the All Star Tennis app (available for Apple and Android), and book courts, sessions, courses, camps, and more.

We offer low-cost membership options which give you 14-day advanced court booking, free coaching workshops, discounts, and more. We also offer Junior Play, Monday to Friday, from 3-5pm – subject to court availability – providing the rackets and balls for young people to get out on the court after school.

Any special offers available at the moment?

You can get 20% off your first adult sessions, which includes cardio tennis, drills, social tennis, and more, by using the code WTBID20 at checkout. But hurry, the code is only valid until Friday 7 April.

If you have any questions you can always reach out at [email protected], or use the live chat option on our website.

What advice would you have for anyone considering taking up tennis?

Think no longer, go for it! Whether you’re looking to play recreationally with friends or improve your game through structured and fun coaching sessions, you’ll not regret it. It’s a great workout with positive social elements, guaranteed to boost both your physical and mental wellbeing.

What kit do we need to bring?

Wear comfy sports trainers – tennis trainers are ideal – and leisure wear. You should also bring water and your racket, if you have one you prefer to use, otherwise we’ll provide you with a racket. If you’re taking part in coaching sessions the equipment is free, but if you’re hiring a court there’s just a small booking fee.

What do you love about Wandsworth Town?

We love the hustle and bustle, from fantastic local businesses to beautiful green spaces, where you can read a book and enjoy a nice walk, or even play tennis!

See you on court.
