Sustainable September is here

Wandsworth Council’s Sustainable September initiative is back with more than 80 community-focussed events and activities across the borough.

Click here to view the full programme of events.

The month-long programme puts the spotlight on local sustainability and looks at ways that we can all help to make a difference. From green-themed summer fairs and community growing sessions, to repair and recycle cafes, art projects, nature walks, and more.

Highlights this month will include the bat walk at Wandsworth Common and the tree trail at King George’s Park.

Last year’s Sustainable September attracted more than 4,500 attendees across 69 community-led climate action events, and this year is set to be bigger and better.

The initiative is supported by the Council’s Climate Action Microgrants programme.

Have your say

Attend the Sustainability Network as part of this year’s programme and have your say on local environmental issues.

This year’s event will showcase the borough’s Biodiversity Action Plan, with interactive sessions to help share ideas and local knowledge on supporting wildlife, restoring habitats, and connecting with nature.

The event will take place on Tuesday 9 September, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, at the Doddington and Rollo Community Centre and Rooftop Gardens in Battersea.

Street parties go green

Wandsworth Council will be waiving road closure fees so that residents can host street parties on 20-21 September to celebrate Car-Free Day.

You have until 5 September to apply for your free permit.
