Spotlight: Spacemade

A new co-working space, unlike any other, is coming to Wandsworth Town – The Gatehouse by Spacemade.

We spoke to Abbie at Spacemade to find out what makes their workspaces so unique, from a plethora of comfortable conveniences to surprising facilities, and how you can save money with a unique discount code.

Tell us who you are and what you do.

Spacemade designs and creates bespoke coworking spaces in city centres and suburbs across the UK, providing flexible workers with the perfect environment to connect, collaborate and grow.

As of right now, we have six locations open (including Neighbourhood Works in London Fields, The Landing in Putney and Park House in Leeds), with five new locations opening across London and one in Birmingham.

How did Spacemade come about?

It all started when our co-founders – Jonny Rosenblatt and Dan Silverman – noticed a growing number of landlords wanting to offer flexible workspace directly to customers but were simply unable to deliver this.

At the same time, they noted that the demand for coworking – both in cities and the suburbs – was booming. Customers didn’t want boring, characterless flexible workspace but an inspirational coworking community. So, Spacemade was born…

When does The Gatehouse launch in Wandsworth Town?

We open on 12 June, and we’re running a limited offer of 30% off your first six months* with code FOUNDERGATEHOUSE.

*T&Cs. Offer only valid for The Gatehouse, minimum 12 month contract for offices. Limited time only.

What makes Spacemade stand out from other co-working spaces?

Spacemade is not your typical flexible workspace operator. We’re tired of seeing bland workspaces that all look like each other. So we don’t do cookie cutter.

Each of our locations has its own brand, identity, and feel to suit its local market and community. In fact, we’re the only operator to brand, design, and operate every single location individually whilst being connected through the power of a network.

What are the benefits of using a flexible co-working space?

Community
Being in coworking spaces means you’re in close proximity with other working professionals, whether you work with them or not. This can improve motivation and create a sense of community, which in turn will help boost productivity by combating feelings of isolation.

Flexibility
Coworking spaces offer people the option of arriving and leaving the office when they want to. They can create office hours that best suit their schedule and their employers.

Collaboration
A coworking space enables you to meet people doing different work than you can and can provide opportunities for new business or collaboration.

Is there a trial option or an office tour available to book?
Yes! All Spacemade locations offer a tour of the site, along with a free trial day. You can book a tour here.*

*excluding a free trial day at The Clement Rooms

Here are a few more reasons why Spacemade is different from the rest.

  1. We’re member-obsessed

Our members are our world. After all, without them, there’d be no Spacemade.

They’re at the forefront of everything we do and every decision we make, from the ergonomic chairs and environment-enhancing plants you’ll find in every space, to the motivating and inspiring artwork adorning our walls.

We celebrate individuality and make sure our environments are safe for everyone to express themselves and be the best they can be. Each space is as unique as the individuals working there.

  1. We’re passionate about hospitality

Take one step into a Spacemade building and you know you’re not in just any old coworking space.

Our community teams truly care about your needs and are on hand to make your life easier. They know everyone by name, everyone’s story and are passionate about helping to make your day run that little bit more smoothly.

We’re also big on making sure none of our members go hungry on our watch. That’s why our kitchens are stocked with bottomless fresh fruit and Caravan award-winning coffee. We can also arrange for food to be brought in for any of your big meetings or team get-togethers.

  1. We’re a community

Becoming a Spacemade member means joining the Spacemade family. We place a lot of stock in collaboration and strongly encourage members to network, chat and socialise. You never know when a fellow member may inspire an idea or even want to invest in your project.

To make it easier for our members to connect, our spaces all have light-filled, open working areas, plenty of breakout areas and comfy corners. We also host regular member networking events and socials.

  1. Everyone is welcome

Whether you need a flexible private office or you’re walking by and need somewhere to get an hour’s work done, we’ve got you covered. Spacemade doesn’t turn people away (unless we’re full, of course!). We offer day passes for hotdesks and private offices as well as fixed desks and permanent offices. Or, book a meeting room by the hour or the day to get your whole team together when you need to.

We’re also doggy friendly and champion people bringing their furry friends into work. There’s loads of research out there proving dogs can reduce stress. And we’re all about living happier, calmer lives.

5. Member at one, member at all

The Gatehouse members also benefit from being able to use the Spacemade network around the UK, giving members the variety and flexibility they might need.

Need coworking space close to where you live some days and in the city on others? We’re here for you. With demand for near to home flexible workspaces on the rise as work patterns become more varied and personalised, we’ve launched – and will continue launching – spaces in suburban neighbourhoods and city central.

Some of our ‘near-to-home’ spaces include, Neighbourhood Works in London Fields, The Landing in Putney, Riley Studios in Archway, The Backyard Co in Cricklewood, Common Ground in Wimbledon Village and Fulham Works in Fulham. Makers Corner is opening soon in Hackney Wick too.

We also know how important it is for some business owners, freelancers and hybrid workers to be in the mix of things so we have centrally-located spaces too, with buildings on The Strand as well as in Leeds city centre. Marylebone and Clerkenwell central London spaces are opening soon.

But don’t just take our word for it.

Here’s what Spacemade member, Faye Kilgour, had to say:

“After over a month of searching for the ideal co-work space in London, Neighbourhood Works by Spacemade felt like love at first sight from the get-go. The vibe of the place, including the interior design but most importantly the team who runs it, is so positive. The positive energy radiates to everyone who works here.”
