Spotlight: Phase Recovery

From professional rugby to sports therapy, we met with Paul Spivey, creator and owner of Phase Recovery, to talk about his mission to get people living comfortably.

Tell us who you are and what you do.

My name is Paul Spivey and I’m a Level 5 Sports Massage and Remedial Therapist.

How did Phase Recovery come about?

After a 10-year career as a professional rugby player, and having worked in the construction industry, I took the decision to study Sports Massage and Remedial Therapy at the North London School of Sports Massage (NLSSM).

I decided to pursue this as my subsequent career as I have a passion for all sports, not just rugby, and I’m committed to helping people to train and move better in everyday life.

As an ex-athlete, I spent enough time on the massage couch, and I know how frustrating injuries can be. I want to help people be as active as possible whatever their chosen sport, hobby, or job.

What services do you offer?

I offer a 90min, 60min and 30min sports massage service.

90mins – A full-body assessment to look at where the pain is coming from. We would do a full mobility and postural check. This would be followed by a soft tissue massage to either help reduce pain or increase mobility. Following this we would discuss a rehabilitation plan with exercises to be
done at home or the gym.

60min – A sports massage treatment working on the issues someone has presented with. We would look at any painful areas and connected issues that may be causing or contributing to the pain. We would discuss rehabilitation exercises to help reduce the individual’s pain.

30min – A sports massage session that would help work on tired or fatigued muscles. This is great for pre- or post-competitive events. It is also for anyone who has limited time but needs help relieving pain.

Where can we find you?

I’m based at Bro x Co on Old York Road.

How can we book?

Bookings can be made via email – [email protected]

What’s your favourite thing about Wandsworth Town?

I’ve lived in Wandsworth Town since 2015. I love that it has a fantastic community spirit and it’s a very sociable place to live. There are lots of independent businesses on the high street who support each other.
