Spotlight: Park Side Gym

Wandsworth’s Park Side Gym, nestled alongside King George’s Park, is under new ownership, which means exciting changes. We caught up with co-owner Dan to find out more.

Hey Dan! For those who don’t know, tell us who you are and what you do.

We’re Park Side Gym, also known as CrossFit Earlsfield, tucked right on the edge of King George’s Park. We’re proud to be the only CrossFit gym in London with direct access to a park, giving our members the best of both indoor and outdoor training. Our two-storey facility is fully kitted out for functional fitness, with dedicated spaces for weightlifting, cardio, and gymnastics. We also have an on-site café, a physio room, and a balcony training area for fresh-air workouts.

Whether you’re into CrossFit, Metcon, Open Gym, or training for Hyrox, we’ve got the space and support to help you hit your goals. Our expert coaches tailor every session to suit all fitness levels and can adapt movements for injuries or skill development. And beyond the workouts, we’re a true community – hosting monthly socials and collaborating with awesome partners like Calo, Optimum Nutrition, Red Bull and GymSync.

How did Park Side come about?

Park Side itself has been around since 2019, but has recently undergone a change in ownership, bringing fresh energy and a renewed vision. Rather than trying to be the biggest or the best, we’re focused on doing things our way – building a welcoming space where functional fitness meets genuine community. Our goal is to help people move better, feel stronger, and connect with others along the way.

How did you settle on the location?

Honestly, the location chose us. With unbeatable access to the park, room for two fully equipped gym floors, and space for a coffee shop, it was a no-brainer. Plus, we’re just a 5-minute walk from Earlsfield station, 10 minutes from Southfields, and a stone’s throw from Wandsworth Town, making it super convenient for locals and commuters alike.

What makes Park Side stand out from other local fitness options?

We’ve created a space that’s as versatile as it is welcoming. With two fully equipped gym floors, we can run multiple classes at once – even during peak hours – while still offering Open Gym and Personal Training. Alongside our top-tier CrossFit and MetCon coaches, one of our standout offerings is MumFit: a hugely popular class designed for new mums to rebuild strength post-partum, with on-site nannies to look after the little ones while they train.

What’s your fitness philosophy?

Come for the workout, stay for the community.

We believe in training that prepares you for real life, functional movements that build strength, stability, and confidence. But what really sets us apart is the people. Our gym is a place where friendships are formed, encouragement is constant, and everyone feels like they belong.

Tell us about your classes.

CrossFit – The ultimate all-rounder. These classes combine strength, cardio, and gymnastics in constantly varied workouts. Every movement can be scaled, so whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned athlete, you’ll leave feeling accomplished, and supported by everyone around you.

Metcon – Short for metabolic conditioning our Metcon class are high-energy, high-sweat sessions focused on building fitness through simple, effective movements. With less technical skill work, it’s easy to follow, scalable for all levels and guaranteed to get you sweating – perfect for beginners, busy parents, or anyone looking to get fit. Always fun, always effective.

MumFit – Tailored for new mums, these classes focus on rebuilding foundational strength and addressing post-partum needs. You’ll feel empowered, supported, and yes – your baby is welcome too!

Open gym access – Want to train on your own schedule? Use our space and kit in your own time. Open Gym is perfect for extra sessions, accessory work or following your own plan.

Personal training – Work 1:1 with our expert coaches to focus on your individual goals. Whether you’re building confidence, returning from injury or pushing a PB we’ll tailor every session to you.

What advice would you have for anyone starting their fitness journey?

The hardest part is walking through the door. But once you do, you’ll find a community that lifts you up – literally and figuratively. The shared challenge of a tough workout creates bonds that keep people coming back.

Are there any introductory offers available?

Yes! We offer a £10 trial class so you can check out the space, meet the team, and get a feel for what we’re all about. If you love it (and we think you will), you’ll get 50% off your first month’s Peak membership.

What’s your favourite and least favourite workout?

Favourite? Anything with wall balls, rowing, and a heavy barbell. One of my go-to workouts is the CrossFit classic Fight Gone Bad:

3 rounds for max reps, 1 minute at each station:
Wall Balls
Sumo Deadlift High Pull
Rowing
Push Press
Box Jumps

Least favourite? That would be Fran. It’s short, fast, and brutal:

21-15-9 reps of:
Thrusters
Pull-Ups

No matter your fitness level, you’ll be on the floor gasping for air by the end!

What’s your go-to post-workout snack?

Definitely one of our Mango Murph smoothies from the café, paired with a Barebells Cookies and Cream protein bar. It hits the spot every time.

What’s your favourite thing about Wandsworth?

My wife and I have lived in Wandsworth for over a decade, and what keeps us here is the green space. It often feels like a peaceful village, yet you’re just minutes from central London. The riverside walks, the parks, and the abundance of great pubs make it a perfect place to live and train.
