Spotlight: Green Mark

Spring is just around the corner, so now feels the perfect time to start helping local businesses think green.

Wandsworth Town BID is working alongside Green Mark to help local businesses start their sustainability journey and earn a free business accreditation as part of the Making Businesses Greener scheme.

We sat down with Green Mark’s Dave Price to discuss the scheme in more detail and why you should sign up your business.

Tell us who you are and what you do.

We are Green Mark and our mission is to share our expertise and help communities create the foundations for a more sustainable future.

At Green Mark we support all types of businesses, from SMEs to large portfolios, and we review their operations in detail and help to embed the processes required to drive continuous improvement and reduce the impact they have on the environment.

We believe every business can make a real difference, and we give them the tools and know-how to make that happen.

What is a Green Mark accreditation?

Our accreditation has become a cornerstone of business operations across the UK, as they move towards being environmentally sustainable in the long-term.

Consumers are becoming more aware of the types of businesses they engage with and sustainability is something they care about. A Green Mark accreditation is a commitment to sustainability that resonates with conscientious customers, as well as helping businesses meet their own sustainability objectives.

What is the Making Businesses Greener scheme?

Making Businesses Greener is a joint initiative with Wandsworth Council. It opens the doors for businesses to understand and improve their environmental impact, cut their utility bills and usage, increase engagement, and implement a structured framework for sustainable growth,

We’re also working with Wandsworth Town BID to help facilitate that process and get local businesses enthusiastic about moving toward a greener future.

How does it work?

Businesses have the opportunity to control their environmental impact through the following free deliverables: assessment of your business, carbon calculations, and the action-driven Green Mark accreditation programme.

How do local businesses sign up?

To qualify for the Making Businesses Greener scheme your business must be an SME of between 5 to 100 employees.

Applications are open until the end of March. Click here to submit yours today.

Is there a cost involved?

No. The scheme is completely free to local qualifying businesses, so be sure to sign up quickly, as spaces are limited.
