How to End a Story by Helen Garner
South London Book Club discusses Helen Garner’s How to End a Story - covering just the first section!
Hello!
After Madeline Cash's Lost Lambs scored a very respectable 7.7/10 at May’s South London Book Club, our next read will be How to End a Story by Helen Garner.
We’ll be meeting on Monday July 7th at 7pm at The Roundhouse to discuss the book. As always, newcomers are very welcome.
If you haven’t joined us before, South London Book Club is a friendly and informal group of readers who meet monthly to chat about books, share recommendations, and choose future reads together. Discussions are led by Emily and Rob, who help keep things lively and moving along.
This month’s pick, chosen by group vote, is Helen Garner’s How to End a Story. Here’s a quick overview:
How to End a Story is a collection of Helen Garner’s non-fiction diaries. The opening section follows Garner as she returns home after a serious operation and reflects on recovery, relationships, criticism, writing, and the strains emerging in her marriage.
