What is the Wandsworth Communtiy Faith Trail?

The Community Faith Trail is a community‑building initiative designed to strengthen interfaith understanding, celebrate cultural diversity, and foster cohesion across the borough. Modelled on Wandsworth’s successful Faith Trails for older primary school children, we will visit places of worship in Tooting and Balham.

At each place there will be a short talk from a member of the worshipping community, followed by a chance for walkers to look around the building. The buildings span a fascinating range of styles, from Victorian to modern, and from purpose‑built spaces to repurposed sites—including an Art Deco cinema transformed into a mosque.

Where does the Faith Trail go?

The day begins with a warm welcome at the Khalsa Centre from 10.00am, before exploring the centre itself at 10.30. From there, the trail continues to the Tooting Islamic Centre, followed by Holy Trinity Church, each offering a chance to hear directly from their communities and explore their spaces.

After a short break, the walk moves on to the Balham Seventh‑day Adventist Church, then settles at St Mary & St John the Divine Church for an extended visit, with time to enjoy a packed lunch or grab something locally. Refreshed, the afternoon takes in the Balham Mosque, Balham Baptist Church, and finally the Balham Mandir, completing a full day of discovery that highlights the rich faith, stories, and buildings that shape the borough.
