Walking Tour - Wandsworth Industrial History
Wandsworth, at the mouth of the River Wandle was once one of London's busiest manufacturing areas. This walk looks at what was made there.
This walk will look at the industrial history of Wandsworth and the things that were made there, and the early railway that was built there. Though most of the industrial buildings have long gone, some traces remain, and the walk will visit them. The impressive buildings of the Ram Brewery still remain, and the walk goes through the courtyard between them. Rob will also talk about newer developments like the Smugglers Way Waste Transfer Station, the Thames Tideway Tunnel and the London Power Tunnels - big infrastructure projects you can find in Wandsworth.
